This town is in many ways similar to Bradbury’s own hometown of Waukegan, Illinois (Johnson 89). Something Wicked This Way Comes and Dandelion Wine, two of Ray Bradbury’s most acclaimed novels, are both set in the small, picturesque hamlet of Green Town, Illinois. By comparing and contrasting the circumstances and desires of children and adults, Ray Bradbury creates an in-depth exploration of childhood and the aging process that positions his work as far more than a typical coming-of-age story. Age and the loss of innocence are strong themes in this story: the boys are barreling forward into adulthood while the adults are looking back, yearning for their lost childhood. ![]() ![]() So begins Ray Bradbury’s dark carnival fantasy, Something Wicked This Way Comes. ![]() 5/30/2023 0 Comments Lin hamilton![]() ![]() It took Miranda a year to write Hamilton’s first song-and another year to write the second song. Miranda recalled to Vogue that “I Googled ‘Alexander Hamilton hip-hop musical’ and totally expected to see that someone had already written it. “This is a guy who wrote at 14, ‘I wish there was a war.’ It doesn’t get more hip-hop than that.” “That is part and parcel with the hip-hop narrative: writing your way out of your circumstances, writing the future you want to see for yourself,” Miranda told The New York Times. When you have a clear purpose, you get what you need I want everyone to read this book, but in the meantime, I've pulled out some of my favorite nuggets. Listening to the audiobook during the summer of 2013 felt like having an older sister or best friend riding shotgun, telling me everything I needed to up-level my life. I already had a head full of Jen Sincero's wisdom by the time the book came out, which coincided with my 39th year, a year that had me, like Sincero, on an extended road trip without a defined end. One of my goals in structuring the book was to draw very clear parameters around this ideology and how it functions - to basically set in motion a good working definition for people. ![]() Koa Beck: I find the word gets thrown around a lot in an unhelpful way. Can you talk a bit about how people use it colloquially, and how you define it?
